Development
Attending an anime/pop-culture related convention is something everyone should experience at least once in their life. Many people are under the notion that attending an anime con is as simple as going to the mall or the movies. However, attending an anime convention requires preparation. My objective for this project was to create a learning experience that playfully outlines how one should prepare, rather than plainly listing it out. It was my ambition to have the tone of the video be easygoing and informal, as if a close friend was delivering the learning experience as opposed to a traditional-style training. I believed the best way to achieve this was to style the video in a fun “how to” format. To further achieve my desired “personal” feel for the video, I recorded the audio myself after planning and writing the script. I felt a natural voice that was compassionate about the learning would resonate with audiences more than if I had used artificial intelligence. The majority of the assets used in the video were created/modified in Adobe Illustrator and then uploaded into the editing software. In order to maintain learner attention, I edited the video in a fast-paced and upbeat style. I was deliberate in adding impactful cuts, effects, and transitions to increase learner’s enjoyment and retention of the subject material. If you are ever interested in attending an anime convention yourself or just need some brushing up on the logistics, I’m confident that this video will provide you value!
