Development

This is a detailed one-hour course that aims to teach caregivers how to incorporate art therapy within adult family homes. The five learning objectives are clearly outlined at the start of the module. The course contains multiple branching scenarios so that learners can tailor art therapy properly and experience memorable consequences depending on the choices selected. The stylistic choices of the course were based on a healthy blend of Cornerstone Healthcare Training’s style guide and purposeful artistic visuals that correlate with the diverse therapeutic art forms presented throughout the course. The course highlights the multiple artistic forms that seniors can employ to express themselves, and the benefits of building creative-based routines. The contents of the course are especially valuable given the natural enjoyment of artistic expression and the uniqueness of an “interest” based training as opposed to “standard” based. The training also presents various resources that caregivers can utilize to enhance seniors’ art therapy experience. Art therapy can provide an immense amount of support for seniors’ well-being, and will organically spread positivity.
